These 2 Amazon FBA mistakes kill profits in January
There’s 2 things that hurt Amazon sellers every January.
It’s killing their profits.
And even worse, it’s destroying their confidence. Which can cause the whole business to derail.
But…
This suffering is totally unnecessary.
Identifying the problem is half the battle.
My team and I work with 100s of Amazon sellers every month. We’ve been doing this a long time. Here are 2 issues that are unique to January:
#1 – sellers fail to treat January differently
Most sellers think of January as just another month. The numbers tell a different story. It’s a unique month with special properties.
Specifically, consumer credit cards are maxed out from Christmas spending.
Sales are naturally lower due to basic consumer behavior.
So if you’re seeing low revenue right now, remember:
“it’s not you, it’s them.”
Some sellers see a sales drop and think there’s something fundamentally wrong with the business. This usually isn’t the case. No drastic changes needed. It’s just the January blues. Now, if you check your Seller Central Business Reports and you’re lower than your previous January in 2022…
…then, yes, maybe there’s a different problem.
You can use our special “SKU by SKU” technique to assess the problem if performance is slow. It can be found here in my free 40 page book: https://www.asteroidx.com/action-plan
Second issue:
#2 – sellers don’t re-order from China in time
Chinese New Year is coming up at the end of January.
It’s time to look at stock levels and place orders as needed.
If you miss the window, you may have to wait and risk running out of stock.
Side note: with rising geopolitical tensions and countries bringing their supply chains in-house, it might be a good idea to start looking at American-made manufacturing for some SKUs. Or Mexico. This is a topic for a different day. But, I can’t help but mention it.
There’s light at the end of this tunnel.
We’re 10 days into January already.
I’d like to help you even more with your Amazon business, but unfortunately this is just an email.
As a next step, I’d like to invite you to schedule a call with my team.
On the call, you will meet one of my Amazon experts, with years of experience growing Amazon FBA brands. We eat, sleep, and nerd out on this stuff. It’s all we do. They will then give you (for free) a tailored plan of action that’s customized for your business. Then, you can either implement it in-house yourself, or get our help with it if you so choose.
Sound good?
